Appointment or Anointing (Open Heavens Devotional Review 4th Oct. 2020)

Shalom and Welcome to Today’s Open Heavens Devotional REVIEW

Topic: Anointing Or Appointment

“We want you to carefully select from among yourselves seven godly men. Make sure they are honorable, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we will give them the responsibility of this crucial ministry of serving.” Acts 6:3

Text: Acts 6:5-8

Everyone in the church loved this idea. So they chose seven men. One of them was Stephen, who was known as a man full of faith and overflowing with the Holy Spirit. Along with him they chose Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas from Antioch, who had converted to Judaism.

All seven stood before the apostles, who laid their hands on them and prayed for them, commissioning them to this ministry. God’s word reigned supreme and kept spreading.

The number of Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem quickly grew and increased by the day. Even a great number of Jewish priests became believers and were obedient to the faith! Stephen, who was a man full of grace and supernatural power, performed many astonishing signs and wonders and mighty miracles among the people. (The Passion Translation)

  • The Anointing is the supernatural ability to do work. It is seen as the presence of the Holy Spirit with a believer. (1 John 2:20 Acts 10:38)

Our generation has people who desire positions and appointments which is not bad but most times there’s no approval from the Lord and thus there will be some struggling because there’s no grace(ability) to properly serve in that post.

Our text should that those who were choose where those who had the right requirement to serve. So appointment is not necessarily the first thing but first a man/woman should first be anointed before serving It should never be something lobbied after but rather it is an election of God’s grace. If you are selected for a position, always check if it’s God’s purpose for you and if it is be committed to it.

Conclusion “Humble yourself before God and in due time he will lift you up.”

Today’s topic: He will never leave you.
Text: Luke 5:1-9

Download: You are always there to help by Pst Paul Enenche

God designed us not to do (live) life alone.
That’s why he sent us the holy Spirit to help our Infirmities. He also use people to help like a friend or spouse.

Sometimes men are not available to help us.
In these times we must remember that Jesus is the ever present help and remember his promises.

Can a woman forget her young sucking child. Yea they may forget but I won’t
I have engraved the on the palm of my hands. Isaiah 49:14-16

God promises to be there even when no one is
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Prayer: Set your love upon Jesus and call on him for help(Psalm 91:14)

Happily Ever After

Text: 1 Thess 4:15-18
1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

God is love and this made him send his son to us even when we were yet sinners.

He made us access his presence by this

He also has a plan of us being together forever enjoying the sweet fellowship together with other fellow Believers(2 Corinthains 13:14)

Dear teen, when you accept God’s love you become eligible for this great eternal meeting

Open your heart to his love and you’ll begin live in the way of love and holiness. A life that gives God glory.

Points
God lives in eternity and is not bound by time. (Isaiah 40)

His unchanging nature means
His word is trustworthy. He is someone that’s means what he says. (Numbers 23:19).

When we trust in Him we can come into a rest and assurance that his plans are not going to fail.

_Habakkuk  2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry._

Grace and peace as you grow in the Knowledge of God

Welcome to the open Heavens TEENS Devotional Review for September 17th 2020

Today’s topic says, SPRITUAL FEEDING

Text: 2 Timothy 2:14-18

2Tim.2.14 – Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.

15 – Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

16 – Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.

17 – Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

18 – who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some.

As food is to the natural body so is the word of God to your spirit.(Matthew 4:4) Someone said “we feed our bodies three hot meals everyday and our spirit one cold snack a week” 😐

Don’t allow the word of God lose value.

As a Believer DESIRE! the word of God so you don’t hace spiritual kwashiorkor.( 1 Peter 2:2)

Sunday sermons, devotionals are wonderful but make sure you don’t just get one snack a week… Plan a time for Bible study and you’ll enjoy the word of God even more. Like the Berean Christians despite how wonderfully sound and powerful the writer /preacher. Go back to the word for yourself. Brother Paul writes “I recommend for you the word of God which is able to build you and give you an inheritance among them that are sanctified.” Acts 20:24

ActionPoint/Prayer: Set a plan and ask God for grace to follow up with it.

Spiritual Networking (OHTDR)

Grace and peace as you grow in God (2 Peter 3:18)

Welcome to the open Heavens TEENS Devotional Review for 14th Sept 2020

Today’s topic is SPIRITUAL NETWORKING

To network means to connect or meet new people. It can also mean developing a relationship with someone who’s not so close. As a believer when you come into a new school, street or neighbourhood it’s good to find other believers who you can fellowship together as brothers or sisters. It doesn’t mean you may not meet others but it is very necessary you have a believer as a close friend.

Today’s text, 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18

14 Don’t continue to team up with unbelievers in mismatched alliances, for what partnership is there between righteousness and rebellion? Who could mingle light with darkness?

15 What harmony can there be between Christ and Satan? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

16 What friendship does God’s temple have with demons?…

Your life should attract others to Christ but don’t fall into a trap of having just unbelievers as your close friends. They may influence you and will do so gradually. Paul who wrote this verse by the Holy Spirit also wrote of how he enjoyed and longed for the sharing with other believers. (1 Cor 16:18)As believers, we refresh one another.

ActionPoint : Check your circle of friends and ask God to help you get a spiritual network

Hidden treasures.
Isaiah 45:1-6

Treasures of Darkness
Treasures are valuable possessions.
Many people because of these treasures become negatively obessed and fall into destruction because of sin.

God has a way of bringing good (treasures) out of terrible situation. (Romans 8:28, Genesis 1:1-3)

In the beginning darkness was upon the face of the deep but the Spirit of God brooded upon the waters and God said, let there be light and there was. Creation happened and new things emerged.

As a believer you should not neglect the Holy Spirit as he helps refine bleak situations and brings out the glory of God.

It also took a healthy relationship with people the woman who experienced a miraculous provision and Syrian general, Namaan needed people who helped them to get the breakthrough intended by God for them to get.(2 Kings chapter 4, chapter 7)
Don’t neglect people as they are agencies which you are blessed in the Earth.

Break the Addiction

From the Open Heavens TEENS Devotional Review for September 9th 2020.

Today’s topic: Break the Addiction

Text: Romans 6:16 “Don’t you realize that grace frees you to choose your own master? But choose carefully, for you surrender yourself to become a servant—bound to the one you choose to obey. If you choose to love sin, it will become your master, and it will own you and reward you with death. But if you choose to love and obey God, he will lead you into perfect righteousness.”

As earlier discussed, Addictions are things you can’t do without. These addictions may start up as innocent habits but are eventually sponsored by spirits.

How do I break free

As we said, Addictions is spiritual. Breaking from an addiction involves coming into partnership with a stronger spirit, according to Mark 3:27

Asking God for help is the first step to breaking free. He will surely hear and guide you out of it. Follow his guide in his word and don’t give room for the opportunity to present itself.

Prayer: Father I ask for help to permanently break free from every addiction.

The Power of Dedication.
Text: 2 Timothy 2:19-21

In our generation we have a responsibility to remain pure so we represent God well.

Dedication is a devotion to someone or something. It means being loyal and faithful to a thing/person.

Dedication is a consecration that Paul the apostle recommended for the Church by the inspiration of the SPIRIT

Romans 12:2 Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

In view of God’s marvelous mercies. I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.

Offer your lifestyle and thinking to the Lord.
“If He is not lord of all, He is not lord at all”

Today’s topic: Your sun will rise again

memorise Jeremiah 31:17
Job.14.7 – “For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease.

Judges 16:16-22
The story of Samson is something that makes us reflect on our lives.

Samson was a young man/youth who was loved and anointed by God to do amazing things. He served as a leader and helped to lead and protect the land of Israel but he made a mistake. He went against God’s commands and it caused him to be captured by Israel’s opposition who cut his hair which was the source of his strength and was disgraced by them, for entertainment but he cried to God and his hair began to grow again.

He eventually overcame by God’s grace.
May you overcome every challenge and begin to shine in Jesus name. Meditate on God’s word and continue to obey.
