THE ENEMY WITHIN
Galatians 5:16-22

1 Corinthians 9:27 but I train like a champion athlete. I subdue my body and get it under my control, so that after preaching the good news to others I myself won’t be disqualified.

Many people think man’s greatest enemy is the devil, but that’s not true. Man’s greatest enemy is self.

What’s Self?
Self refers to the natural sinful human nature that was passed down from Adam, who rebelled against God’s Government.

It’s the nature that drives every man to sin.
Self contradicts the ways of the Holy spirit.
The Passion Translation Galatians 5:17-18 For your self – life craves the things that offend the Holy Spirit and hinder him from living free within you! And the Holy Spirit’s intense cravings hinder your old self – life from dominating you! So then, the two incompatible and conflicting forces within you are your self – life of the flesh and the new creation life of the Spirit. But when you are brought into the full freedom of the Spirit of grace, you will no longer be living under the domination of the law, but soaring above it!

When a man gives his life to Christ, he has the grace of God to live above sin and self.

This only happens when you submit under the government of the Holy Spirit in your heart.
Romans 8:1 the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus frees us from the law of sin and death.
Submit to the desire of the Holy Spirit and say no to sin. ( Titus 2:11-14)

Topic: HANDLING TEMPTATIONS

Text: James 1:12-15
James 1:12 If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God!

James 1:13-15 When you are tempted don’t ever say, “God is tempting me,” for God is incapable of being tempted by evil and he is never the source of temptation. Instead it is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. Evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! (The Passion Translation)

Temptations are mere arousals to sin.
It’s the situation where you are drawn by a lust.(James 1:3)

Temptations are don’t just happen, but it is a situation where you are tested in an area of lust.

How do I overcome lust?
*** Submit to the discipline of the spirit of God (He will help you.)
[Romans 6:13-14]

*** Don’t set the affections of your heart on this world or in loving the things of the world. (But on the Love of God) The love of the Father and the love of the world are incompatible. For all that the world can offer us—the gratification of our flesh, the allurement of the things of the world, and the obsession with status and importance—none of these things come from the Father but from the world.( 1 John 2:15-16)

Don’t offer your body to sin but set your consciousness to righteousness

*** Don’t give room for the opportunity. Be principled and flee every appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22)

Think On These Things Thursday

#Think on these things series 2.

TRUSTING GOD
Matthew 6:26 “Look at all the birds—do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet your heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father than they? The Passion Translation

DEAR BELIEVER,

The life of the believer was never one to be lived in worry.
Many times, the devil brings situations to us that seem.to confound your understanding. He still goes to come and go counsel, suggesting  ways you can overcome the challenge.

Many times our undoing is in following his counsel and /or walking by natural sight.

At times this counsel, may look harmless but alas, If we choose to follow His pattern we are prone to failure… for there’s a way that seems right to men but leads to death.( Proverbs 14:30)

Jesus told his disciples, Don’t allow worry room in your heart.

Maintain a heart posture of prayer and thanksgiving that embraces the peace of God

Speak to your heart and soul it shall be well. Matthew 6:26

“Say to the Righteous It shall be well with you you shall eat the fruit of your work”  Isaiah 3:10

Ecclesiastes  8:12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

“Righteousness is the greatest security for every man”

“`Never compromise your stand as the Righteous…

Even when things looks contrary. It’s in these times of test we are tried and refined (James 1:3)

DON’T COMPROMISE HIS WORD/INSTRUCTIONS🙌
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Luke  6:47,48 KJV

All things work together for the good of the that love the Lord and for them who are the called according to him purpose.(Romans 8:28)

God’s plans towards you are good thoughts.(Isaiah 29:11)

TAKE His love  PERSONAL dear Believer,

Never forget, “you  are more than a conqueror despite the challenge through HIS LOVE TO YOU”

DANGERS OF IDLENESS
Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 11:1-7

Idleness is staying without doing anything useful. It involves a great deal of spending resources yet not accomplishing any productive goal.

It was never intended for man to be idle, in the beginning God, the creator put man I the Garden at the East of Eden and told him to keep it. (Genesis 2:15)

So there’s work you should be doing per time.

1 Chronicles 12:32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…

Idleness they say is the devil’s workshop because if you’re not working on productive things, the devil takes advantage of you, because he comes to steal, kill and destroy…

We saw how He did this to David and others in the past …This disadvantage can only be recovered by God’s mercy and grace.
Christ Jesus on the other hand wants us enjoy #Eternal life (a life knowing the Father experientially) and invest in this life daily. (Gal. 6:5, Jn 10:10; 17:3)

What are you investing your time in?
Set your heart to understanding what God’s will(per time/season of your day/life and do it.
…Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. 17 And don’t live foolishly for then you will have discernment to fully understand God’s will.  Ephesians 5:16b, 17
(The Passion Translation)

Grace and peace to you as you grow in the knowledge of God

Welcome to the open Heavens TEENS Devotional Review for August 21st 2020

Today’s Topic: CLIMBING UP
1 Samuel 17: 33-37
Text Highlight;
1 Samuel 17:36-37 I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this heathen Philistine too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The Lord who saved me from the claws and teeth of the lion and the bear will save me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented, “All right, go ahead,” he said, “and may the Lord be with you!”

David was a teenager who stood out of his peers. He was the only one among His age group who went to the Warfield and he eventually conquered a huge problem for Israel, Goliath the Giant.

When faced with different life goals/challenges there are some characters you have to exhibit one of which is DILIGENCE
To be successful in your goal, you’ll have to be diligent.
Proverbs 22:29 says
Do you know a hard-working man? He shall be successful and stand before kings!
(The Living Bible)

That’s what made David stand before the King of Israel.

He said to the King,
“I have killed the lion and the bear, this philistine will fall like them”
David had been taking care of his Father’s animald practiced his skills of warfare and when it was time to deliver, He did so

If you want to be successful, pay attention to your skills be diligent and develop them.
As a student, The best person in your class had a secret/success strategy if yours is not working, find out why and ask God to give you a better one.
When he does, follow it with diligence.
